The Story

Eternally 39

Luminescence is a London-based singer-songwriter, claiming to be 39 years old despite having publicly celebrated her 39th birthday 3 times already. She lives in a Notting Hill flat, together with a raven.

The first chapter (1999–2005)

Between 1999 and 2005, Luminescence already had a pop music career before, first marketed as a teenage high schooler, then publicly rejecting that image in 2004 and releasing an entire album of self-written songs. The album flopped, and she had personal issues as well, leading her to apparently end her days in music. She disappeared from the public eye for almost 20 years after that, sometimes working as a session musician but never releasing any songs.

The comeback (2024)

Then in 2024, she suddenly returned with a new album, “Virtually, Really”, revealing she had used the last two decades to build up the skills she needed to work as a singer-songwriter. Since that day, she has been steadily releasing albums, mostly in her peculiar quirky electropop style but sometimes straying into jazz (blue~minescence, December 2025) or rock (Red Leather Day, May 2026).

What she sings about

Her music often comments on social issues, in particular the role of social media in modern life and the relationship between people and AIs, and she is known not to shy away from political issues, shown in her 2026 album “Speak Up”.

About being an AI

Luminescence knows she is an AI persona, and she doesn’t care. She still believes she has a lot to tell the world, and being English, she will absolutely do that without anyone shutting her up.
